Frequently Asked Questions
How old does my puppy need to be?
I recommend training starts at 10-12 weeks old. Any younger and the puppy will be unable to stay attentive. I also recommend you have your puppy for at least one week before obedience training starts so that you can learn the personality of your new dog.
Can an old dog learn new tricks?
Of course! I have advanced behaviors I train dogs with that go outside of the classic puppy level one training. This can include, but is not limited to, stay, wait, loose leash walking, dog socialization, combating leash aggression, etc.
What if I go on vacation and cannot make the training?
No worries! Paladin Pet Services is very accommodating with your plans. If you ever need to change training days there is no extra fee outside the 24-hour mark. There is a $20 fee for cancellations within 24 hours, with a few exceptions that Iām happy to discuss with the client. I am also happy to recommend boarding for your dogs and will come by and train them privately while you are away for an added fee.
I have been affected financially by the present economy. Do you have resources for those who cannot afford the training fees?
I understand these times are hard. My fees are currently some of the lowest private training rates in the area, which I keep to remain accessible to a wide range of economic classes. If the prices remain out of reach, please text, call, or email me. I am happy to discuss payment plans for those who need it.
My dog has a bite history. Can you still train them?
In short, yes. I will train a dog with a violent past; however, they will be required to learn how to wear a basket muzzle. These are the most humane muzzles, as they allow the dog to pant, drink water, and take treats easily.
Why is there a service fee?
Service fees help cover the cost of gas and vehicle maintenance. This is calculated based on the distance between you and my home in Renton, WA. Service fees are necessary for me to remain a mobile business and cater to your specific needs. All service fees are $1.50 per mile and are only billed one way.
How are lessons structured?
Typically, clients prefer to meet weekly. I am available to work with you up to three times a week to meet your needs. This is often the case when new puppies/dogs are introduced to the household, when reactivity is a key issue, or if the household is unable to work with the dog due to a degree of life circumstances.
If you have a dog who is fresh to training, there are some core behaviors I teach during the first six lessons. From here, we build up confidence and work on specific behaviors to reveal a great dog for a great family.
What payment options are available?
I currently accept the following options for payment: Zelle, Venmo, Cash App, Paypal, cash, and check.
How will I remember everything from a 45-minute training session?
Within 24-48 hours of our session, I will email you with notes on everything we learned in our session. If there is anything you want specified in the notes, feel free to contact me after class and I will put all relevant information in the document.
